Auto Checking of Email

It's a good idea to limit your frequency in polling the server for new mail. If you set your checking of email to be too brief an interval, larger downloads can become corrupt and duplicate emails will occur. This is because the cycle of downloading email requires completion before asking for mail again. Not allowing this creates a loop that can cause all sorts of problems.

Here is the setting area after selecting Preferences in MacMail:

Password Authentication:

From the Accounts Tab under Preference, select "Password" as the Authentication method.
